TMJ is an inflammation of the joint between your lower jaw and your skull that causes facial pain, difficulty chewing and swallowing, and headaches.
Do you suffer from jaw pain, headaches, or sore mouth?
- tooth and jaw alignment
- stress and teeth grinding
To diagnosis TMJ, we exam your jaw and mouth to detect any inflammation. X-rays of your mouth, lower skull and neck also assist in this process. To determine the cause of TMJ, we will discuss your overall health, eating and sleeping habits.
TMJ therapy aims to reduce the inflammation in the joint and address the factors that are causing the TMJ.
We may recommend anti-inflammatory medication, massage, stretches and jaw exercises. Once the cause of TMJ is determined, we may recommend physiotherapy, orthodontic correction, bite appliances, stress reduction, and changes to your eating habits.
